🎃 Dress up and join us for our Fourth Annual McGhoulrick Halloween! 👻

Step into a day of playful frights, community fun, and Halloween magic at McGhoulrick Park! Friends of McGolrick Park are brewing up another spooktacular evening for neighbors, families, and trick-or-treaters of all ages.
What to Expect
Haunted Strolls & Decor — Explore the park transformed with enchanting Halloween décor.
Trick-or-Treat Stations — Candy, stories, treats, tarot, and other surprises from our friends at Greenpoint Library, BBSC, Last Place on Earth and Artudio.
Dance Party — Be serenaded (or spooked) by The Dance Space.
Meet neighbors, make memories, and support your local park. Costumes encouraged!
Tips for Attendees

McGolrick Meditation: Forest Bathing
Relax and stay quiet as you walk among McGolrick Park’s trees during our Japanese forest bathing session (shirin yoku) with local artist Beatrice Wolert. Forest bathing is a self-care practice that supports holistic health by connecting with nature through our senses. It can promote your mood, focus, and balance stress levels. Mats, journals, and writing implements will be provided.

McGolrick Meditation Mindful Mondays: Meditation, Movement & Creative Awareness
Join Bea Wolert for weekly outdoor mindfulness sessions that combine breathwork, mindful walking, and simple creative practices like visualization, nature-based connection activities, sound mapping and intuitive drawing to ground the body, quiet the mind, and open creative awareness.
No prior experience is necessary. Please bring a towel or mat, all other supplies will be provided. Meeting point is by the Monitor Statue near the Monitor entrance mid-block between Driggs and Nassau. Please arrive 5 minutes early to check-in.
Spots are limited to 25 participants. To secure your spot, add to cart and finalize your checkout by completing the waiver. Please email us if you’re unable to attend so we can offer your spot to someone else. This event is open to ages 18+.

Puppetmobile: Pinocchio and Gepetto’s Big Apple Adventure + more!
10 am: Storytime and craft with local author Meghan Oliver and her new book, Carrie the Tree Fairy, about a young tree fairy whose creativity brings Fall to the world.
11 am: CityParks PuppetMobile, the country's oldest continually operating company of its kind, presents free performances and puppet-making workshops in neighborhood parks, recreation centers, and schools across New York City.
During the 2026 season, the PuppetMobile will present a fresh take on the classic fairy tale Pinocchio, written by Julia Darden and directed by Bruce Cannon, with set design by Zlata.
12 pm: Join Friends of McGolrick’s October cleanup! The winner will lead our epic Halloween Parade!
Plus, bring your Halloween costumes to swap!

McGolrick Tree ID Walk with Super Stewards
Join Friends of McGolrick alongside NYC Parks Stewardship for a Winter Tree ID Walk.
Without their leaves, trees make you slow down and really look. We’ll learn how to spot the clues hiding in plain sight, from bark texture and branching patterns to buds and silhouettes. You’ll leave knowing your London planes from your red buds and seeing the park a little differently for the rest of the season.
All ages welcome. Dress warm, wear sturdy shoes, and bring your curiosity. Winter is when the trees tell their quiet stories. For more info, please click here!

Winter Tree Care
Join Friends of McGolrick and the NYC Parks Department to use our neighborhood Christmas Tree mulch to care for the park’s trees.
Creating a ring of mulch around the tree base helps support root health by providing nutrients, retaining moisture, and protecting the trees from mowers!
Please meet at the McGolrick Park Farmer’s Market table beginning at 10 am on January 11. Dress suited for gardening!
Mulchfest
Recycle your holiday tree by bringing it to McGolrick Park, where NYC Parks will chip it into mulch!
Trees can be dropped off before Mulchfest, beginning on December 26. For more information about drop-off locations throughout the city, visit NYC Parks’ Mulchfest page.
MULCHING IN MCGOLRICK WILL OCCUR ON JAN 10TH! Mulch will be used to perform tree care on Jan 11th. Please drop off trees at the Monitor & Driggs corner prior to the 10th.
