Pinocchio and Gepetto’s Big Apple Adventure
CityParks PuppetMobile, the oldest continually operating company of its kind in the country, presents free performances and puppet-making workshops in neighborhood parks, recreation centers and schools throughout New York City.
During the 2026 season, the PuppetMobile will present a fresh take on the classic fairytale Pinocchio written by Julia Darden and directed by Bruce Cannon, with set design by Zlata.

Tree ID Nature Walk
Join Friends of McGolrick Park for a Summer Tree ID Walk, 7/11 at 9 AM.
Learn how to spot the clues hiding in plain sight, from bark texture and branching patterns to buds and silhouettes. You’ll leave knowing your London planes from your red buds and seeing the park a little differently for the rest of the season.
This walk will be led by Deborah Davidson, who holds a B.A. in Biological Anthropology and an M.Sc. in Conservation with an emphasis in primate ecology. Throughout her career, she has worked with the University of Oxford Botanic Garden, the Wildlife Conservation Society, the Arcus Foundation, and City Parks Foundation. She also completed an Urban Forest Fellowship at McGolrick Park and currently works in the Education Department at Wave Hill in the Bronx.
All ages welcome.

Join Bea Wolert for weekly outdoor mindfulness sessions that combine breathwork, mindful walking, and simple creative practices like visualization, nature-based connection activities, sound mapping and intuitive drawing to ground the body, quiet the mind, and open creative awareness.
No prior experience is necessary. Please bring a towel or mat, all other supplies will be provided. Meeting point is by the Monitor Statue near the Monitor entrance mid-block between Driggs and Nassau. Please arrive 5 minutes early to check-in.

McGolrick Meditation: Talking to Trees
Trees are record keepers. They hold deep wisdom and energy that supports our experience as humans. Join Lisa K of Middle Sister Tarot for a workshop all about exploring your personal connection with these amazing beings. Learn techniques to connect with a tree’s energy and communicate with them. You might be surprised what comes through! No experience necessary. Please bring a blanket or towel to sit on, a notebook, and something to write with.
Lisa K is a Greenpoint-based Tarot reader, psychic channel, and spiritual development teacher. She has been connecting with trees for as long as she can remember. You can find her on Instagram at @middlesistertarot.

McGolrick Meditation: Forest Bathing
Relax and remain quiet while walking amongst McGolrick Park’s trees during our Japanese forest bathing session (shirin yoku) with local artist Beatrice Wolert. Forest bathing is a self-care practice that seeks to enhance health holistically by connecting with nature via our senses. It can promote your mood, focus, and balance stress levels. Mats, journals, and writing implements will be provided.

McGolrick Tree ID Walk with Super Stewards
Join Friends of McGolrick alongside NYC Parks Stewardship for a Winter Tree ID Walk.
Without their leaves, trees make you slow down and really look. We’ll learn how to spot the clues hiding in plain sight, from bark texture and branching patterns to buds and silhouettes. You’ll leave knowing your London planes from your red buds and seeing the park a little differently for the rest of the season.
All ages welcome. Dress warm, wear sturdy shoes, and bring your curiosity. Winter is when the trees tell their quiet stories. For more info, please click here!

Winter Tree Care
Join Friends of McGolrick and the NYC Parks Department to use our neighborhood Christmas Tree mulch to care for the park’s trees.
Creating a ring of mulch around the tree base helps support root health by providing nutrients, retaining moisture, and protecting the trees from mowers!
Please meet at the McGolrick Park Farmer’s Market table beginning at 10 am on January 11. Dress suited for gardening!
Mulchfest
Recycle your holiday tree by bringing it to McGolrick Park, where NYC Parks will chip it into mulch!
Trees can be dropped off before Mulchfest, beginning on December 26. For more information about drop-off locations throughout the city, visit NYC Parks’ Mulchfest page.
MULCHING IN MCGOLRICK WILL OCCUR ON JAN 10TH! Mulch will be used to perform tree care on Jan 11th. Please drop off trees at the Monitor & Driggs corner prior to the 10th.

Cold Moon: A Winter Solstice Arborist Walk
Join us on December 4 for a nighttime tree walk during the next and last full moon of 2025, also known as the Cold Moon.
Arborist John Kilcullen of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation will lead a tour around our beautiful park, where he will dive into the history of the park’s amazing trees, including our ash tree, award-winning eastern redbud, and the London plane trees, which make up the park’s beautiful tree canopy.
The tour begins at 5:30pm at the Russell St. and Driggs Ave. entrance, with peak supermoon illumination at approximately 6:14pm, providing the perfect amount of light for our walk.
