Earth Day in McGolrick Park, April 18, 2026
On a brisk, sunny day in April we celebrated McGolrick Park during our third annual Earth Day event. Parks are such a vital part of our environment; indeed, they make us healthier and happier by protecting people, wildlife, and the ecosystem around us.
This year, we celebrated with so many of our beloved local partners. Artist Bea Wolert led a free early-morning meditation session, kicking off the day with a leisurely walk through the trees.
The day turned into a family-friendly event when we were joined by our friends at ARTUDIO, who created a recyclable caterpillar art project for kids; Bartlett Trees, who organized a tree giveaway featuring four tree varieties; and BIG REUSE, who held a free compost giveaway at their table.
Kids and adults alike enjoyed a park cleanup (we collected 55lbs of trash!), a free book exchange, McGolrick Art Club with Sebastian Deregibus, and story time with Greenpoint Library. Our friends from the DOT’s Office of Livable Streets initiative and Council Member Lincoln Restler also joined us for the Earth Day celebration.
